This web site is written to provide the reader with a background to the natural world, with a particular focus on zoology and palaeontology.

The natural world is part of our heritage, just like historical objects, archaeological artefacts, paintings or other antique items.  However, perhaps it is easier to take this natural heritage more for granted; after all, how often do birds and butterflies pass us by when we're not really paying attention; during a trip to the coast, many of us are completely unaware of the millions of years of geological history locked within overbearing cliffs; or perhaps we may have precious gemstones or even fossils as objects on the mantelpiece without really understanding where there are from or how they formed.  Through a series of web posts, I hope to open your mind to this invaluable part of our heritage and share my enthusiasm for the amazing phenomena which comprise the natural world.
